Senior Summer Seminar - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
August 6, 7, 8, 2019 8:30 – 11:30 AM
We are pleased to invite you to attend and participate in this summer’s – Senior Summer Seminar - for the fourth consecutive year. As in the past, this event offers the opportunity to make or deepen your relationships with fellow members of the Immanuel family. It will also feature devotional times, Bible studies, hymn sings, coffee breaks, and special presentations. Doors will open at 8:30 for signing in and refreshments. Sessions will start at 8:55 for welcome and introductory information with devotions starting promptly at 9:00. The program will conclude at 11:30.
The theme for worship and Bible study this year will be Pray, Praise and Give Thanks from I Thessalonians 5:16-18, and Luther’s explanation of the second Commandment.
Special presentations will include:
Tuesday, August 6th – Heidi Harkopf - “Cunning Carbohydrates: How to sort out fads from facts”
Wednesday, August 7th – Dr. Ralph and Dorothy Schultz – “Stories Behind Your Favorite Hymns”
Thursday, August 8th – Ione Mensing – “Artists’ Faces of Jesus: How would you picture Him?”
This year we are lowering the age for registration to 60! Younger members may also attend as well as a relative or friend. However, we request all persons to register in advance. We encourage you to register for all three days, but if necessary, register for those individual days that time permits. We do request that you fill out and return the enclosed Registration form by July 21st either by mailing it to the Immanuel office: Immanuel Lutheran Church and School; Senior Summer Seminar; 18 Clapboard Ridge Rd, Danbury, CT 06811, or, place it into the Church Office Drop Box in the narthex next to the Pastors’ offices. Thanks to a Thrivent Action Project Grant there is no registration fee or cost to you.
We encourage participants to bring in nonperishable food items to be donated to the Daily Bread Food Pantry of Danbury.
