2015 Confirmation Class

This weekend, seven of our eighth graders were confirmed in the Christian faith here at Immanuel Lutheran Church. I am proud of everyone of them! They have worked hard to learn the theology of the Bible and have expressed their faith in an essay. They also took a vow and made a promise to walk in the faith of their baptisms for the duration of their earthly life on Confirmation Sunday. Yes, a sacred commitment has begun! Essentially, they have decided that the faith that they were baptized into as a child is the faith that they now want to live by into adulthood. Confirmation is a milestone because these seven confirmation students have assumed the responsibility of the faith for themselves. What was the vow and promise that their parents made at baptism, which is now their vow and promise today? They promised to live with their baptized child among God’s faithful people, bring them to the Word of God and the Holy Supper, teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the Holy Scriptures, and nurture them in faith and prayer, so that their children will learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace. This can only be fulfilled by the grace of God working through the means of grace! I pray that our confirmation students will continue to cling to God's work that sustains our faith, which are found in the assembly of believers every week in church where God's presence is found in the hearing of the Word of God and the receiving of the Sacrament of the altar. I hope that they continue to find ways to get involved in the life or our faith community.

Please Pray for and Encourage our Confirmation Students:
As a congregation, I ask you (myself included) to keep the following confirmation students in your prayers and when you seen them in church, please encourage them to remain steadfast in their faith!
